Brief Description of Project Progress

This project proposes to build the capacity of two ICT skills training organisations in Mokopane; Mogalakwena Sustainable Technologies (MST) and Advance Through Learning (ATL).

Both MST and ATL are emerging non-profit organisations (NPO) which both have technically skilled leaders and staff. Currently, there is a dire need in the community for more ICT skills training organisations such as MST and ATL. They propose to provide various kinds of ICT skills training courses and support to the community in and around Mokopane.

To date, the following had been achieved:

  • A needs assessment was carried out for the organisations to prioritise the areas for capacity building
  • A workshop to discuss accreditation to the relevant Skills Education Training Authorities (SETAs) and assist the organisations in the processes required. Both organisations have indicated that they are interested in registering with the Services SETA. The process of registration is a long and involving one, and the CBOs have agreed to prioritise this in their work.

Staff of the two organizations has undergone assessor and moderator training as part of the accreditation process.
