ORT SA hosted its Business Plan Competition in October 2022 in Umlazi, KZN. The competition was held to help the youth see how their prospective businesses could succeed when competing with each other, irrespective of the different industries. The ten participants were given a chance to pitch their business ideas to the judges from ORT SA and Toyota SA Motors. Congratulations to Siyanda Ngubane, who won first place with her business pitch for Kwangcukumane (PTY), a gardening resource service. In second place was Zakithi Mncwangi and
her company, Zazahs poultry farm, and in third place was Pumlani
Memela with Nolinda Farms. The top three winners received cash prizes from ORT SA of R10 000, R6 000, and R4 000, respectively. In addition, the winners will be part of the ORT Jet program, where they will receive mentoring, networking, and training to enhance their business acumen. These youth are encouraged to provide job opportunities within their communities.
