ORT SOUTH AFRICA LAUNCHES ACADEMY
Educational NGO, ORT SA is strengthening its position as a leader in Technology Education in South Africa. ORT SA CEO, Ariellah Rosenberg says, “Our Johannesburg offices have recently undergone extensions and renovations, thanks to a generous donation by Eric and Sheila Samson. This will allow ORT SA to extend its impact on up-skilling South Africans, making them employable, with an emphasis on 21st century skills, imperative for future careers”.
The ORT SA Academy will soon be launched and will include a STEM Academy (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) offering seminars, courses and lectures with a view to future career choices. The Skills and Enterprise Academy will cater for accredited small business training, including mentoring. An IT Academy will offer End-User Computer Qualifications, Robotics and Coding. Bridging programmes in Technology will be offered, which could lead to careers in IT.
According to the World Economic Forum Report on the future of jobs, this fourth industrial revolution, together with socio economic and demographic factors is impacting the labour market across the globe, resulting in the creation of new categories of jobs. This affects the skills- set required for a digital world and will transform how and where people work. The ORT SA Academy aims to meet these by bridging the unemployment and skills gap.
