“Recognise that every interaction you have is an opportunity to make a positive impact on others.”
Ever so often in life, we realise we’ve been taking the privileges we’re afforded for granted. Often this is thrown into context when the things we’ve taken for granted, like education, are unavailable to many people in the country and outreach is needed to rectify this.
In this article, we reflect on an interview with ORT SA member Khanyi Sangweni on how she acknowledges and appreciates the relationship she has with ORT SA.
- How would you describe your experience at ORT SA?
My experience with ORT SA has always been fun. It was and is still exciting to come to work, and the reason for this is because I love what I do.
- Has anything about you changed since you joined ORT SA?
I’ve always been a team player and a free-spirited individual, so when I came to ORT SA, I was determined to maintain the very same personality traits that I naturally have.
- What have you learnt at ORT SA thus far?
Initially, I had no idea that SETAs (Services Sector Education and Training Authority) existed, but working for ORT SA exposed me to how these institutions operate. I have also managed to obtain more than two qualifications through ORT SA; one of them is First Aid.
- What has been your proudest achievement at ORT SA?
Currently, one of the things that stand out for me is that I get to assist and interact with a beneficiary who struggles to cope academically. Experiences like that motivate me to be a facilitator one day and make my job worthwhile.
World ORT says it best when they say, “Impact Through Education.”
It is evident that ORT SA has impacted Khanyi Sangweni through education and made a footprint in her life, as it aims to do for so many others.
